Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) said Friday that 20.4 million environmental futures and options contracts traded on its exchange in 2024, up about 40% year-over-year.
The contracts traded were equivalent to a notional value of more than $1 trillion, the market operator said.
The company said that in its North American environmental markets, 5.6 million futures and options traded in 2024, with $12.3 billion physically delivered.
