TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Nusantara Capital City or IKN Authority will soon move its office to the new capital city in East Kalimantan, as the construction of its offices nears completion, said Acting Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure of the IKN Authority Danis Sumadilaga.

“We will start operating there in February, God willing,” he said at the Ministry of Public Works on Monday, February 20, 2025.

However, Danis could not yet confirm when the transfer of state civil servants (ASN) would begin. According to him, the policy is in the hands of the Ministry of Empowerment of State Civil Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB). “We continue to complete the infrastructure for the arrival of ASN.”

Danis said that the office buildings in the IKN are ready for use, including the buildings for Coordinating Ministries, except for Kemenko 2 as its construction started later. “The flats [for ASN] are also getting ready. Maybe around March or April, 47 flat towers will be ready,” he added.

Danis also highlighted that the IKN already exhibits urban functionality as there are already coffee shops, restaurants, and even hospitals operating within the area.

Minister of PANRB Rini Widyantini confirmed that preparations for the ASN transfer are underway. She emphasized that the restructuring of ministries under President Prabowo Subianto's administration needs a revised transfer scheme, as the number of ministries has increased from 34 during the previous administration of Jokowi to 48 in the current government.

“We are still awaiting the finalization of their internal governance procedures,” Rini stated during a press conference following the "One Decade of Integrity Zone" event at the Bidakara Hotel in Jakarta on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
