Tivan (ASX:TVN) said testwork for the salt roast processing flowsheet for the processing of vanadium at its Speewah vanadium project in Western Australia produced high-purity vanadium pentoxide, according to an Australian bourse filing on Tuesday.
The test work included desilication trials, purification trials as well as a set of bulk trials for the flowsheet from concentrate through to vanadium pentoxide production, with a grade of 99.9% vanadium pentoxide without the use of solvent extraction.
The next phase of testing involves the production of high-purity vanadium electrolytes at the specifications provided by Sumitomo Electric Industries. The results are expected in the first quarter.
The firm is assessing two separate processing technologies for the project, the TIVAN+ processing technology in strategic partnership with Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization and a salt roast processing flowsheet, the filing said.
