China Southern Airlines (SHA:600029, HKG:1055) expects its net loss to narrow to between 1.25 billion yuan and 1.87 billion yuan in 2024 from 4.21 billion yuan in 2023, according to a Friday filing with the Hong Kong exchange.
The foreseen lower loss at the airline is attributable to a recovery in China's civil aviation sector, it said.
Higher prices of aircraft and aviation materials brought about by supply chain disruptions prevented a return to profit, China Southern said in its filing.
Shares fell 4% in Hong Kong during Monday's morning trading.
