Health-care companies rose as traders rotated back into the sector amid optimism about blockbuster drugs.
Novo Nordisk shares rose by more than 8% for one of their biggest gains in recent years after the Danish pharmaceutical giant said an experimental weight-loss shot helped patients lose 22% of their body weight in a clinical trial.
The slightly weaker-than-anticipated performance of some shots has weighed on the formerly red-hot shares of Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly. Shares of Moderna rose as the biotech firm received an approval on supplying the European Union Covid-19 Spikevax shots following a tender process.
