DeepSeek, the Chinese artificial-intelligence chatbot, has shocked Silicon Valley with its cost-effective approach-and rattled global tech investors.
-- Shares in Japan's SoftBank Group fell about 8% Monday. SoftBank is building data centers for OpenAI and controls U.S.-listed chip maker Arm Holdings.
-- Other AI-related stocks in Japan also fell, with semiconductor-tool firm Advantest dropping about 9%.
-- In Europe, chip-equipment company ASML sank about 8%.
-- Futures tied to the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 index traded down more than 3%.
