Textron's (TXT) Textron Aviation Defense unit said Tuesday that its Beechcraft T-6 Texan II Integrated Training System has been selected to upgrade pilot training for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
The contract is expected to be finalized this year in collaboration with the Kanematsu Group, the company said.
The T-6 Texan II will replace the Fuji/Subaru T-7 trainer, which has served as the JASDF's basic training aircraft for many years, the company said.
