Bar is Low Heading Into Hershey's 4Q Report -- Market Talk

1358 ET - Hershey's outlook isn't exactly sweet, according to UBS. "The bar is certainly low heading into next week," when the maker of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Twizzlers is scheduled to release 4Q results, analysts say in a research note. "While better-than-feared '25 guidance is certainly within the realm of possibilities, we are not necessarily sure that will be enough to meaningfully improve sentiment," they add. Chocolate--the core of the company's business--has become its biggest liability, as many investors think cocoa inflation could become a multi-year headwind on earnings. There are a wide range of outcomes for Hershey's initial 2025 guidance, though they almost all underscore a year-over-year deceleration in earnings, the analysts write. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
