The U.S. central bank's policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee concludes its two-day meeting and is widely expected to keep its benchmark overnight interest rate in the 4.25%-4.50% range. Fed Chair Jerome Powell will likely strike a cautious tone in his post-meeting press conference and keep the central bank's options open to allow policymakers time to assess how President Donald Trump's administration will reshape the fiscal landscape. Tesla is expected to report a 7.8% rise in fourth-quarter revenue. Analysts and investors expect CEO Elon Musk to provide more details on the company's new planned cheaper model based on the Model Y and Model 3 platforms. Microsoft is expected to report a jump in second-quarter revenue, thanks to steady cloud consumption trends and benefits from building out AI capacity. The tech giant's outlook for cloud revenue growth, comments on Blackwell AI chip capacity, 365 Copilot and capital spending expectations will be on top of investors' minds. Meanwhile, Meta Platforms is scheduled to report that its revenue increased 17% in the fourth-quarter, driven by higher spending from advertisers on its social media platforms. Analysts and investors will also eye Meta's commentary on uncertainty over a potential U.S. TikTok ban and its capital spending, as the company ramps up investments in artificial intelligence.

IBM is expected to report a jump in fourth-quarter revenue. Analysts and investors are looking for indications of demand for its consulting segment and traction for its AI-focused offerings. Hess fourth-quarter profit is expected to be smaller than the $1.63 per share reported in the year-ago quarter, due to lower oil prices and a pulled forward payment for Guyana production vessels.

Telecom service provider T-Mobile is expected to report a rise in revenue in the fourth-quarter, driven by demand for its high-speed internet plans.

Nasdaq is set to report its fourth-quarter results. The transatlantic exchange operator is expected to report a rise in quarterly profit thanks to stronger trading volumes. MSCI is expected to report a rise in the fourth-quarter profit as asset managers prioritized subscriptions to its products amid a rallying equities market. Levi Strauss is expected to post a rise in its fourth-quarter revenue helped by strong full price demand for its denim apparel. Investors will watch out for comments on holiday quarter sales, as well as expectations for the rest of the year. Apparel & footwear company VF Corp is expected to post a dip in third-quarter results, as the company tries to turn around demand for its struggling apparel and footwear offerings. Investors will look out for comments on holiday season sales, cost-saving efforts and annual forecasts. Railroad operator Norfolk Southern is expected to report its fourth-quarter earnings. Analysts expect the company to report a year-over-year fall in revenue and a rise in per-share profit. Global freight forwarder C.H. Robinson is expected to report a year-over-year rise in quarterly revenue when it reports its fourth-quarter earnings. Analysts also expect the company to post higher earnings per share than the year earlier.

General Dynamics is set to report fourth-quarter 2024 earnings. The defense company is expected to post a year-on-year fall in deliveries for aircrafts and submarines parts as supply chains issues persist, while noting strength in its Combat Systems segment numbers on sustained defense demand. Wolfspeed is expected to report a fall in revenue in the second-quarter as the chipmaker grapples with weak demand from automotive customers. Western Digital is likely to report second-quarter revenue above estimates as demand recovers for memory chips used by cloud service providers. Lam Research is expected to report a rise in revenue in the second-quarter, due to surge in orders from chip firms amid the AI boom. Meanwhile, Teradyne is expected to post a nearly 10.5% increase in revenue in the fourth-quarter, helped by strong demand for its chip-testing equipment. ServiceNow is expected to report higher fourth-quarter revenue, driven by growing demand for its AI-powered products and services that help businesses manage their digital operations as they migrate to the cloud. Life sciences company Danaher is expected to report fourth-quarter results. Investors are expected to look out for its 2025 forecast and comments on demand for its diagnostics and bioprocessing businesses. Insurance company Progressive Corp is expected to report a rise in its fourth-quarter profit on strong insurance demand. Diversified financial firm Ameriprise Financial is expected to post a rise in fourth-quarter profit, driven by robust fee income as a market rally boosted the value of its clients' assets. Bank of Canada is set to hold its monetary policy meeting and is likely to cut rates by 25 basis points to 3.00%. In Latin America, Brazil’s central bank rate-setting committee is expected to hike the Selic interest rate by 100 basis-points to 13.25%. Meanwhile, Mexico’s national statistics agency is expected to report that the unemployment rate in December likely remained unchanged at 2.6%.
