Cigna Group's (CI) Evernorth Health Services unit said Wednesday it is introducing new measures to reduce prescription drug costs and improve transparency for Express Scripts patients and plan sponsors.

The company said its standard offerings will now allow patients to pay a lower negotiated drug price rather than the full list price set by manufacturers. Patients in employer-sponsored plans will also see more predictable costs, particularly during deductible periods, Evernorth Health said.

Evernorth also said it will provide patients with annual summaries detailing prescription costs, negotiated savings, and insurer contributions.

CI shares were edging 0.4% higher in early trading.
