Besra Gold (ASX:BEZ) said that its application for the renewal of the mining license ML 05/2012/1D, for its Jugan Project in Malaysia, remains pending, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

The company lodged the renewal application in May 2024 and engaged with key decision-makers in the Malaysian government during the December 2024 quarter, the filing said.

Despite positive feedback from the officials, the State Minerals & Mining Authority (SMMA) postponed its December meeting, and a decision may not come until late February or March, the filing added.

The company noted that the mining lease remains valid until a final decision is made.

BEZ said that construction activities will start at the project following the renewal of the license and approval of the operational mining scheme.
