Cathay Pacific (HKG:0293) has requested Boeing and Airbus to submit bid proposals for widebody jets, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The jets are due for delivery in the next 10 years, the report said, citing the sources.
The airline did not comment on the bid proposals but said it is committed to Hong Kong and investing in new aircraft, the report said.
Cathay is eyeing either Airbus A350 or Boeing 787 Dreamliners and also the 777X twin-aisle planes, Bloomberg said, citing comments by the airline's Chief Operations and Service Delivery Officer Alex McGowan made in 2024.
