The Roseland, New Jersey-based company said it had net income of $2.35 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.27 per share.
The payroll and human resources company posted revenue of $5.05 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.97 billion.
ADP shares have increased almost 2% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has increased 27%. The stock has increased 25% in the last 12 months.
