Among the passengers on the crashed jet was Police Col. Pergentino N. Malabed, who managed supplies for the Philippine National Police. Malabed was in the U.S. with two colleagues to inspect vests and had taken the flight from Wichita on his own to pay a courtesy call to the police attache at the Philippines's embassy in Washington, a police spokesman in Manila said Friday.

The spokesman said that Malabed's widow would travel to the U.S. to identify his body and collect his remains.
