ASML said the entry of Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek into the market will benefit the Netherlands-based semiconductor equipment maker in the long run, Yicai Global reported Thursday, citing remarks made at a press conference.
ASML Chief Executive Officer Christophe Fouquet said the expansion of artificial intelligence will be hinged on low costs and energy consumption, as low prices drive more volume, the report said.
Lower AI costs will help the adoption of AI across industries and ultimately drive demand for semiconductors, the report said.
DeepSeek's debut has rattled markets and has driven US officials to assess the impact of the startup on national security.
