European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were lower late Friday morning, declining 0.22% to 1,373.53 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by accommodations booking company trivago (TRVG) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma (ASND), which rose 3.3% and 2.9% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC) and biotech firm Evaxion Biotech (EVAX), which lost 2.1% and 2% respectively. They were followed by Banco Santander (SAN), which fell 1.6%.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies TC Biopharm (TCBP) and Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which advanced 6.2% and 4.2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL), which rose 3.6% and 2.1% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland included biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which lost 1.3% and 1.0% respectively.
