South Korea's Trade Minister Engages in Bilateral Talks and WTO Session at Davos WEF 2025

South Korea's Trade Minister Inkyo Cheong met with counterparts from ASEAN, Japan, the EU, and GCC nations at the 2025 WEF in Davos, Switzerland, to strengthen global trade cooperation.

Cheong discussed the country's stable economic position, efforts toward the Korea-EU Digital Trade Agreement, and measures to expand Korea-ASEAN trade ties, the trade ministry said in a Friday release.

Cheong also addressed bilateral free trade agreement agendas with officials from the UK, France, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.

At an informal WTO session, Cheong highlighted South Korea's commitment to open trade as APEC chair and emphasized reforms to address climate change and AI. Discussions included incorporating the investment facilitation for development agreement and dispute settlement reforms ahead of the WTO's 2026 Ministerial Conference.
