U.S. Tariffs Would Be an Arrow to Heart of Europe's Economic Engine -- Market Talk

1218 GMT - Europe is unlikely to be immune from U.S. President Trump's tariffs, says Mirabaud Group's John Plassard in a note. The answer to the question whether Europe should be trembling is "yes (unfortunately)," the senior investment strategist says. A 10% tariff on European products would be a direct blow to the heart of Europe's economic engine via a potentially 1% eurozone GDP contraction, he says. "Business uncertainty acts like a slow poison, seeping into boardrooms and freezing investment decisions," he says. (emese.bartha@wsj.com)
