Hong Kong's gross domestic product increased 2.4% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to advance estimates of the city's census and statistics department released Monday.

GDP growth in Q4 2024 was faster than the 1.9% rise logged in the third quarter, the department said.

Private consumption expenditure fell 0.2% during the quarter, and narrower than the 1.3% fall in Q3.

Government consumption expenditure grew 1.9% in Q4, faster than the 1.7% rise in Q3, according to the department.

Exports of goods in national accounts terms slowed to a 1.2% increase in Q4 compared with a 4% rise in Q3, while exports of services jumped 5.6% during the period, down from an 8.7% rise in Q3.

Hong Kong is seen to log further economic growth in 2025 despite "heightened uncertainties" brought about by US tariffs against China, which could hurt global trade flow and impact the city's exports, a government spokesman said.
