McDonald's Settles Hispanic Scholarship Suit -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

1822 ET - McDonald's said it is settling a lawsuit over a decades-old college scholarship program for Latino students. The suit, brought by the American Alliance for Equal Rights, accused the burger giant of discriminating against non-Latinos with a requirement that scholarship applicants have at least one parent of Hispanic origins. The restaurant chain disputes the assertion, but settled to allow the scholarship to go forward. Applicants will now need to demonstrate their impact and contribution to the Latino community.
