Alpha Modus Holdings (AMOD) said Tuesday it filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Walgreens Boots Alliance's (WBA) pharmacy store chain Walgreens in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleging infringement of its retail technology.

The company said the lawsuit claims Walgreens' in-store digital smart screens use technology covered by Alpha Modus's patents, including artificial intelligence tools that support in-store shopping with data insights and interactive advertising.

Walgreens did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of Alpha Modus were up more than 30% in recent Tuesday premarket activity while Walgreens Boots was 0.3% lower.
