Marsh exits continue as Jones heads to Lockton International

By Rebecca Delaney

Feb 4 - (The Insurer) - Mark Jones has joined Lockton as international chief financial officer, continuing the trend of former JLT executives leaving Marsh for rival brokers.

Jones will contribute to Lockton’s growth strategy across four regions: Europe, Middle East and North Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.

He will particularly focus on investment opportunities, as well as overseeing strong financial management to support new products and services.

Jones succeeds Andrew Monkhouse, who is set to retire after eight years in the role. Monkhouse will work with Jones in the coming months to support the leadership transition.

Jones joins Lockton from Marsh, where he served as CFO of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement, and CFO of Mercer Marsh Benefits.

He joined Marsh following its $5.6bn acquisition of JLT in 2019, where he had served as deputy group finance director and CFO of JLT Specialty.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Brown, CEO of Lockton International, said: “Mark’s vast experience and proven track record in the global insurance sector make him an exceptional addition to Lockton. Under his leadership, I am confident he will continue to build our financial strength and maintain market-leading organic growth rates in our international business.”

Jones added: “I am very excited to join Lockton and contribute to its dynamic, client-first culture. Globally, Lockton has enjoyed tremendous momentum, reflecting the strength of its independence and client-focused approach. I look forward to working with the team to expand and improve what we can do for clients.”

Earlier on Tuesday, WTW confirmed the appointment of Marsh managing director and global engagement partner Paul Graziano to its Corporate Risk and Broking segment for North America.

This publication revealed earlier this week that Graziano was set to join WTW, alongside fellow Marsh and former JLT colleague Mike Giacobbe.

Giacobbe most recently served as Marsh Advisory and Global Specialty co-leader. He held various roles since the JLT acquisition, including global specialty leader for Marsh Advisory and consulting leader for US and Canada.

Last week WTW confirmed that Pat Donnelly – who held a variety of roles at Marsh, including president of US and Canada and president of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement – would take over as the head of North America Risk and Broking.

The role had sat vacant since the departure of Michael Chang, who held the post for more than two years.

As previously reported, Donnelly was recruited to WTW by Lucy Clarke, who left her role as president of Marsh Specialty in July 2023 and became president of Risk and Broking globally at WTW in July 2024.
