Thermo Fisher Scientific (TMO) said Tuesday that it signed a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement with X-ELIO, designed to increase access to renewable electricity across pharmaceutical and healthcare supply chains.
The medical device maker said the Lorca solar project is set to begein operations early next year and will involve three partners from the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
The company said its 73 megawatt share of the project will generate 150,000 megawatt-hours of renewable electricity per year, enough to power 40,500 European homes for a year.
