Shares in Ball fell in early trading Tuesday after the company reported a decline in sales and logged a loss in the fourth quarter.
Shares fell 7.3% to $51.60, recovering slightly after reaching a 52-week low of $51.02.
The company, which manufactures aluminum packaging, reported sales of $2.88 billion, down slightly from $2.9 billion, due largely to softer sales in its North and Central American markets.
Net loss came to $32 million, or 11 cents a share, compared with a profit of $154 million, or 49 cents a share, in the same quarter a year ago.
