Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Decline Pre-Bell Monday

Consumer stocks declined pre-bell Monday as the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was 0.9% lower and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) recently fell by 2%.

Tyson Foods (TSN) shares advanced by over 6% after the company reported higher fiscal Q1 adjusted earnings and sales.

Playa Hotels & Resorts (PLYA) shares were up more than 2% after the company said it has agreed to extend its exclusivity agreement with Hyatt Hotels (H) to discuss potential strategic options, which may include its acquisition by Hyatt.

Amazon.com (AMZN), PDD Holdings-owned (PDD) Temu, and other online shopping platforms will be held accountable in the EU for illegal or hazardous products sold online, the Financial Times reported, citing proposed customs reforms. Amazon shares were more than 1% lower, while PDD shares fell past 5% premarket.
