Electronic Arts (EA) laid off around two dozen people at BioWare studio as part of a reorganization and made permanent the move of employees "loaned" to other teams, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

After the restructuring, BioWare's workforce has less than 100 employees compared to over 200 workers two years ago, the report added.

The disappointing performance of the latest Dragon Age game, which missed sales expectations by 50%, contributed to the restructuring, according to the report.

On Wednesday, BioWare said in a blog post that a core team is developing the next Mass Effect game and the current stage of development doesn't need support from the full studio.

Electronic Arts did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
