VRX Silica Says Western Australia Silica Sand Project Faces Appeal During Environmental Approval

VRX Silica (ASX:VRX) said an appeal was filed during the environmental approval process for the Arrowsmith North silica sand development proposal, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

The Conservation Council of WA filed the appeal during a three-week review period after the Environmental Protection Authority of Western Australia published an assessment report for the firm's proposal and recommended to the environment minister that it may be implemented.

The appeal will be investigated by the Office of the Appeals Convenor on behalf of the minister, who will ultimately determine the appeal, the filing said.

The firm is preparing its response to the appeal, set to be filed by March 3, per the filing.

The firm's shares fell 17% on Wednesday's close.
