Edison International (EIX) said Thursday that its Southern California Edison unit submitted reports to California regulators on its review of the Eaton and Hurst wildfires, which began on Jan. 7.
The company said Southern California Edison has not determined the cause of the Eaton Fire but is examining whether its equipment was involved. The Los Angeles County Fire Department is leading the investigation, with support from other agencies. Southern California Edison said its full review may take months and will include inspections and testing of equipment in the fire's origin area.
For the Hurst Fire, Southern California Edison said the Los Angeles Fire Department has indicated its equipment may have been the cause. The fire burned about 799 acres and was fully contained by Jan. 16.
Southern California Edison said its equipment "may be associated" with igniting the fire and that it is cooperating with authorities.
