Sparc Technologies (ASX:SPN) signed an agreement with a joint venture between mining giant BHP Group (ASX:BHP) and Japanese firm Mitsubishi to test its ecosparc anti-corrosive coating at the Goonyella Riverside Mine in Queensland, according to a Friday filing with the Australian bourse.
The trial will compare EcoSparc with a "market-leading" anti-corrosive coating on coal handling and processing plant infrastructure, the filing said.
Sparc will provide the agreed amounts of EcoSparc at its cost, while the joint venture will prepare the agreed infrastructure and arrange for the application of the ecosparc enhanced and control coatings, the filing added.
Initial results are expected in six to 12 months, the filing said.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Shares of BHP rose almost 1% in recent Friday trade, while Sparc Technologies' shares jumped 4%.
