Johnson Controls International (JCI) said Wednesday that it has appointed Joakim Weidemanis to succeed George Oliver as chief executive officer, effective March 12.

Before his appointment, Weidemanis was executive vice president at Danaher (DHR), where he oversaw diagnostics and China operations.

The company said Oliver will remain as non-executive chairman of the board until July 31, when he will be succeeded by Mark Vergnano, who has been on the board since 2016.

Oliver will continue to advise the company until Dec. 31 to ensure a smooth leadership transition, it added.
