Commonwealth Bank has told staff they need to spend at least four hours in the office each day to meet their attendance requirements after discovering some employees were coming in for just one hour before returning home in a trend known as “coffee badging”.
The new rule is the latest in a series of tit-for-tat exchanges playing out at the bank and other major white-collar employers over getting workers to do more hours in the office after the COVID-19 pandemic triggered the work-from-home revolution.
