** Structural Monitoring Systems SMN.AX rises 1% to A$0.485

** Stock climbed as much as 3.1% earlier in the day, marking its biggest intraday pct gain since January 23

** Electronic products manufacturer's unit gets approval for its MTP136D Panel-Mount Forest Service Radio from the United States Forest Service and Department of the Interior

** Says approval authorises radio's use in all federally regulated aerial firefighting agency and contractor aircraft across U.S.

** Adds radio can now access its full addressable market of more than 3,000 applicable aircraft fit to be upgraded to the MTP136D from existing legacy tech

** More than 185,000 shares traded, 2.1x the 30-day avg

** SMN rose 3.2% last month
