Digihost Technology (DGHI) said Tuesday it has created a new unit called US Data Centers to build facilities designed for high-performance computing and artificial intelligence applications.

US Data Centers intends to spend about $440 million in converting Digihost's Columbiana, Alabama facility into a tier 3-certified data center with a total planned capacity of 55 MW, according to Digihost.

The first phase, which aims to deliver 22 MW of capacity, is expected to be finished by Q2 of 2026, while the second phase will add 33 MW by Q1 of 2027, Digihost said.

Digihost said it plans to finance the project primarily through debt, using anticipated future revenues to support the investment.

Digihost shares were up more than 9% in recent Tuesday premarket activity.
