BlackSky Technology (BKSY) and Rocket Lab USA (RKLB) said Monday they will launch BlackSky's first Gen-3 satellite on a dedicated Electron mission from Rocket Lab's Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand during a launch window opening Feb. 18.
The mission, named "Fasten Your Space Belts," will deploy the satellite into a circular 470-km orbit, enhancing BlackSky's real-time space-based intelligence capabilities with 35-centimeter high-resolution imaging.
This dedicated Electron mission is the first of several ordered by BlackSky, joining its mid-inclination Earth-imaging constellation, they added.
Shares of BlackSky Technology were up 1.1%, while Rocket Lab gained 0.4% in after-hours trading.
