Oracle (ORCL), Amazon (AMZN), and Microsoft (MSFT) have expressed interest in acquiring the social media platform TikTok from ByteDance, the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday, citing people familiar with the matter.
US President Donald Trump has assigned Vice President JD Vance to engineer a takeover of the short-video platform from its Chinese parent company, the report said.
ByteDance and the Chinese government have opposed any forced sale of the platform, which is popular with American youth.
TikTok Chief Executive Shou Chew last week proposed a joint venture with US investors that would safeguard Americans' data on the platform, the report said.
Oracle, Amazon, Microsoft, ByteDance, and TikTok did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
