Unilever's (UL) Ben & Jerry's unit accused the parent company of blocking messages on social activism, banning posts critical of President Donald Trump.

In a Thursday letter to Judge Kevin Castel of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Ben & Jerry's alleged Peter ter Kulve, Unilever's president of ice cream, unilaterally prohibited criticism of Trump until further review.

The executive said plans this year to restructure the ice cream business allegedly created a "new dynamic" in an "unprecedented time," according to the letter.

Unilever didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
