Energy stocks advanced premarket Friday as the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) rose by 0.4% recently.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 0.4% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 2.1% higher.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 0.3% at $71.48 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 0.4% to $75.30 per barrel, and natural gas futures were 2.3% higher at $3.71 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Enbridge (ENB) shares advanced by nearly 1% after the company reported an increase in Q4 adjusted earnings.
TC Energy (TRP) shares were down 0.4% after the company reported lower Q4 comparable earnings.
