Rio Tinto Group (ASX:RIO) has cleared Cape Lambert and Dampier Ports and closed Dampier Salt operations as tropical cyclone Zelia heads towards Pilbara, West Australia, according to a Thursday statement.
The company said it is too early to determine how long its port and rail operations will be closed and its impact.
Shipment guidance for the year remains unchanged, the statement added.
The cyclone has intensified to a Category 5 system and the Bureau of Meteorology has forecasted it to cross the coast between Port Hedland and Karratha on Friday, the company said.
