Meridian Energy's Retail Sales Volumes Fall 6.7% in January

Meridian Energy (ASX:MEZ, NZE:MEL) retail sales volumes fell 6.7% year on year to 787 gigawatt hours in January, according to a Friday filing with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.

By segment, sales were up 3.2% in residential, 4.9% in corporate, and 2.7% in large business. Agricultural sales plunged almost 37%, while small and medium business sales were down 0.9%, the filing said.

National electricity demand fell 5.7%. National hydro storage decreased to 91% from 114% of the historical average. Total inflows for January reached 43% of the historical average.
