HanesBrands' chief executive, Steve Bratspies, is leaving the apparel maker, which has begun a search for a new CEO.

HanesBrands on Thursday said Bratspies, who has been at the helm of the Winston-Salem, N.C., company since August 2020, will leave the post at the end of the year or upon the appointment of his successor.

The company said Bratspies will also step down from the board but will stay on in an advisory role to assist with the transition.

Bratspies joined HanesBrands as CEO after a stint as Walmart's chief merchandising officer.
