MDU Resources (MDU) said Friday its Montana-Dakota Utilities unit has signed a purchase agreement to buy a 49% stake in the Badger Wind Farm for an estimated cost of $294 million.

The deal represents 122.5 megawatts of the project's 250-megawatt generation capacity, the company said, adding the transaction is subject to regulatory approval from the North Dakota Public Service Commission.

The company said it signed a power purchase agreement for 150 megawatts of the Badger Wind Farm's output in November, which included the 49% purchase option it has now exercised.
