智通财经APP获悉，法国医药巨头赛诺菲(SNY.US)与美国同行强生公司(JNJ.US)结束了对一款试验性疫苗的开发工作，因为该疫苗未能有效防止一种侵袭性的消化道病原大肠杆菌。
赛诺菲在一份声明中表示，由于这一最新的决定，公司在2024年第四季度的财报中记录了大约2.5亿美元的减值损失。但是赛诺菲表示这一决定不会对赛诺菲当前财年的财务预期产生任何影响。
这一举动对全球医学界预防大肠杆菌败血症的努力是一次打击，因为目前尚无有效的实质预防措施。赛诺菲与强生公司表示，在一项独立的数据监测委员会评估后，决定终止这项重要的临床后期研究。该委员会认为，这种正在开发的疫苗未能有效地保护受试者，相比安慰剂组没有显著效果。
大肠杆菌败血症是由大肠杆菌引起的全身性感染，细菌通过血液传播至全身各器官，导致器官功能障碍，严重时可能危及生命。目前，针对大肠杆菌败血症尚无特定的预防疫苗。
赛诺菲与强生旗下的扬森(Janssen)部门在2023年10月达成合作，共同开发这款新疫苗产品。赛诺菲已经支付了2.5亿美元作为协议的一部分，并原计划在未来根据商业里程碑进行进一步的支付款项。
