In company news, Meta Platforms (META) is planning a major investments into artificial intelligence-powered humanoid robots, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The tech giant is putting together a new team within its Reality Labs hardware unit to do the work, according to the report. Meta shares were up 1.1% near noon.
Moderna (MRNA) reported a Q4 loss Friday of $2.91 per diluted share, swinging from a profit of $0.55 a year earlier and worse than the loss forecasted by analysts surveyed by FactSet of $2.83. Fourth-quarter revenue was $966 million, down from $2.81 billion in the year-ago period but above the FactSet consensus estimate of $942.8 million. Moderna shares were up 5.7%.
Blackstone (BX) is mulling a sale of Olympus Energy, its natural gas exploration company, that could be valued at up to $2 billion, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. Blackstone shares were up more than 3.0%.
Airbnb (ABNB) reported Q4 earnings late Thursday of $0.73 per diluted share, swinging from a loss of $0.55 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus estimate of $0.58. Fourth-quarter revenue was $2.48 billion, up from $2.22 billion in the year-ago period and above the $2.42 billion forecast by analysts surveyed by FactSet. For Q1, the company expects revenue between $2.23 billion and $2.27 billion, compared to the FactSet analysts' estimate of $2.30 billion. Airbnb also said it plans to invest $200 million to $250 million "towards launching and scaling new businesses to be introduced" in 2025. Shares of the company were up 14.1%.
