未来几年随着世界各地的人们使用更多的电力来运行空调、工业和越来越多的数据中心，电力需求势将急剧增加。
据国际能源署的一份报告，未来三年全球用电量势将增加3,500万亿瓦时的空前水平。
每年增加的电量超过了日本一年的用电量。这段时期内约4%的年增长率是多年来最快的速度，凸显出电力在全球整体能源需求中的重要性与日俱增。“全球电力需求加速增长，凸显了全球能源系统正在发生的重大变化，以及新的电力时代的到来。”国际能源署能源市场与安全主管Keisuke Sadamori在一份声明中表示，“但它也给政府确保安全、负担得起和可持续的电力供应带来了不断变化的挑战。”
智通财经APP获悉，华源证券发布研报称，电力供需形势依然严峻，预计我国平均系统备用率未来仍将保持在较低位置，仍需要足够的传统电源维持用电安全。
