TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Supporters of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) played and danced to dangdut koplo music as they waited for PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, who was undergoing questioning by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The crowd stated that they would wait for Hasto until Hasto's interrogation was completed.

"We will wait until Pak Hasto comes out," said the orator, speaking from atop the command car in front of the KPK Red and White Building, South Jakarta, on Thursday, 20 February 2025.

Based on Tempo's observation at the location, at 13:50 WIB (Western Indonesia Time), some of the supporters were dancing to koplo, some were just sitting along the roadside, and some others gathered at several food stalls around the anti-graft body's building.

Hasto's supporters arrived at the KPK office using more than three buses and a number of motorcycles. Meanwhile, the PDIP Secretary General arrived at the KPK for questioning at 09:45 WIB.

He was accompanied by his legal advisors, namely Todung Mulya Lubis, Maqdir Ismail, Ronny Talapessy, and Patra Zen. Several PDIP elites, including Komaruddin Watubun, Ribka Tjiptaning, Deddy Sitorus, and Guntur Romli, were also present.

Before entering the building, Hasto expressed his resolute belief that his struggle to uphold democracy would not end even in the event of detention. "I believe that the seeds of democracy, the nourishment of democracy to correct the oppressive power, will grow even larger, thank you," he said.

On the same occasion, Hasto emphasized that law exists to establish justice and hoped that his efforts could encourage the realization of fair law enforcement.
