Danske, Nordea and DNB Bank Expected to Show Resilience -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

1310 GMT - Nordic banks Danske, Nordea and DNB are expected to be relatively more resilient than regional peers, despite net interest income pressures, Deutsche Bank analyst Marlene Eibensteiner writes. Banks in the region beat earnings expectations on average by 12% in the fourth quarter, mainly attributable to stronger than anticipated net interest income and fees, while costs were largely in line. Danske and DNB were the only ones to post a year-on-year increase in net interest income. Deutsche Bank raises Danske Bank's target price to 254 Danish kroner from 247 kroner and keeps at buy. It lifts Handelsbanken's target price to 111 Swedish kronor from 109 kronor and DNB's to 233 Norwegian kroner from 229 kroner, keeping both at hold. (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
