Metro has appointed Nicolas Amyot its new chief financial officer, succeeding Francois Thibault, who's set to retire in April.

Amyot brings to the Canadian grocer nearly 30 years of finance experience, Metro said Wednesday. He is joining from Pratt & Whitney Canada, where he worked for more than 20 years, and was most recently vice president of finance.

Amyot is expected to join Metro on March 17. To ensure a smooth transition, Thibault will remain with the company and continue as CFO until April 17. His retirement was announced on Oct. 21.
