China's CNOOC commences production at Buzios-7 project off Brazil

SINGAPORE, Feb 17 (Reuters) - China's offshore oil and gas major CNOOC Ltd 600938.SS, 0883.HK said on Monday it has started pumping oil from the Buzios 7 project, which is part of a deepwater project off Brazil.

Buzios 7 is the sixth development project of the Buzios oilfield located in the Santos basin, offshore southeast Brazil, with a water depth of 1,900 to 2,200 meters.

With a total of 15 wells planned for the project, Buzios' crude oil output is expected to rise to one million barrels per day (bpd) in the second half of 2025, CNOOC said in a statement.

It did not provide the field's current production level.

The Buzios field features a key facility, a China-manufactured floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit designed to produce 225,000 bpd of oil and process 12 million cubic meters of natural gas a day, CNOOC said.

Brazilian state firm Petrobras owns 88.99% of the Buzios field. CNOOC holds a 7.34% stake and China's top oil major CNPC owns 3.67%.
