1308 ET - Retailers and manufacturers looking to beat tariffs are rushing cargo into Southern California ports. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in January handled the equivalent of 955,480 20-foot import containers, the strongest import volumes since August 2024, and a 25% increase over the same month last year. President Trump imposed a 10% tariff on goods from China that took effect in early February. Importers are bracing for further tariffs to be imposed on other countries in the coming weeks.
