Victoria to slash 3000 public service jobs

The heavily indebted Allan government is set to cut up to 3000 public service jobs after announcing a snap review into the sector as it looks to rein in billions of dollars in spending before the state budget.

Premier Jacinta Allan and Treasurer Jaclyn Symes on Thursday said Helen Silver, a former secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet who is currently deputy chair of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority, would the head review, which will report back on June 30.
